The first step in repairing your credit is
to discover where your credit problems are. You do this by obtaining
credit reports. You must remember that the three bureaus are INDEPENDENT
and they do NOT share information. In fact, all three of them compete
against one another in the same business. Therefore, it is not unusual
for these bureaus to have differing information on you. The common
explanation for this is that a particular creditor will only deal
with one of these bureaus. As stated above, creditors only report
to these bureaus periodically. These periods vary for each creditor.
Some creditors report to the bureaus monthly, quarterly, or semi-annually.
Therefore, it is important to obtain the latest report from all
three of the bureaus and compare the differences in your credit
files.
